Remote Systems Control and Data Acquisition

The Johnson Company has more than 20 years of successful experience designing, programming, installing, and operating remote Systems Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to monitor treatments plants, surface water quality, and storm water runoff. Our systems use the latest telecommunications technology to enable continuous data collection and access site/systems conditions.

Our SCADA systems remotely monitor and control treatment processes including water flow rates, system pressures, storage tank levels, and power consumption or outages, thereby reducing the number of site visits, and therefore operating and maintenance costs. Our systems incorporate fail-safe alarm detection routines to notify operators if process conditions exceed threshold limits.

We have also designed systems for meteorological, hydrologic, and other environmental remote data collection applications. For example, we program equipment to automatically initiate storm water samplers in response to threshold precipitation events.  This allows our scientists and engineers to access information about water levels, water temperature, precipitation, pH, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen and turbidity, on an on-going, real time basis.
