The Johnson Company’s work successfully demonstrated that natural attenuation, primarily through existing anaerobic biodegradation was sufficiently controlling the site’s dissolved contaminant plume. While the existing long-term monitoring data showed that the site appeared to be at a steady-state or stable condition, additional long-term monitoring was recommended and optimized based on the recent investigations.
No large-scale remediation was required, saving approximately $10 million. The Czech government lauded our investigation methods and risk-based approach as an exemplary strategy to be applied to other sites in the Czech Republic.
