Christopher M. Crandell, M.S., P.E., L.S.P., President and Senior Managing Engineer. President since 1997, and with more than 28 years of technical and project management experience in civil and environmental engineering, Mr. Crandell provides senior project oversight, detailed project review and strategic assessments for clients. During his professional career, he has amassed considerable technical expertise in site remediation, sediment and surface water planning and management, and water supply and wastewater control.
Michael B. Moore, M.Sc., CGWP, P.G., Vice President and Senior Hydrogeologist. Mr. Moore is a technical advisor to clients and an expert to legal counsel regarding contaminant hydrogeology investigations and remediation alternatives and solutions in a variety of complex hydrogeologic systems. He brings over 20 years of national and international experience, 12 with The Johnson Company, and frequently advises clients regarding subsurface contaminant conditions in assessing environmental insurance alternatives, supporting litigation, and managing liabilities related to large property purchases and industrial property remediation. He earned a B.S. in geology and a M.Sc. in hydrogeology, and is a Certified Groundwater Professional and a licensed Professional Geologist in Texas.
Sonja Schuyler, M.S., Senior Scientist/Biologist. Ms. Schuyler has been with the firm since 1989, and has over 24 years of professional experience. She has managed ecological investigations, supported Natural Resource Damage negotiations, and managed permitting for large power and other projects. Ms. Schuyler has a varied and extensive knowledge of surface water and wetland ecology. Ms. Schuyler also has expertise in facilitating public involvement in environmental projects and in securing environmental permits from federal, state and local environmental regulators. Ms. Schuyler earned a B.S. in biology and an M.S. in zoology.
Donald Maynard, P.G., P.E., L.W.D., Senior Engineer and Geologist. Mr. Maynard has been with the firm since 1987 and has over 24 years of experience in geology, hydrogeology and environmental engineering. During that time he has designed and implemented remediation systems, interpretated bedrock geology, performed hydrogeological investigations, and designed earthen dams, wastewater disposal systems, tower foundations, and landfill caps. He has written and employed computer models for interpretation of surface water and groundwater flow, contaminant fate and transport, and geotechnical design. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in geology and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Vermont and Maine, a licensed Professional Geologist in New Hampshire and Maine, and a Licensed Well Driller in New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Joel Behrsing, P.E., Senior Engineer. Mr. Behrsing is a senior civil engineer and has been with the firm since 1987. During his 20 years of experience, Mr. Behrsing has designed, permitted and overseen construction of many site development and infrastructure projects, remedial systems for contaminated sites, and landfills. He also provides cost estimating, permitting and project implementation expertise, including significant experience in the preparation of contract documents, solicitation and evaluation of construction bids, construction contract administration and construction oversight. Mr. Behrsing earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Vermont.
Glen A. Kirkpatrick, M.Sc., M.B.A., P.G., Senior Hydrogeologist and Engineer. Mr. Kirkpatrick is an engineer and hydrogeologist who specializes in the characterization, assessment and remediation of sites contaminated by chlorinated solvent DNAPLs, particularly in challenging fractured clay or rock environments or sites at which indoor air or surface water receptors are impacted. He has been with the firm since 1999. Prior to entering consulting, he was employed as a Research Hydrogeologist within a joint university/industry consortium for solvent DNAPL research. He earned a B.A.Sc. in civil engineering, a M.Sc. in hydrogeology, an M.B.A. in strategic management and is a licensed Professional Geologist in Texas.
James R. Bowes, B.S., P.G., Senior Geologist. Mr. Bowes, with the firm since 1987, has 26 years of professional experience that includes hard rock geology and mining concerns, remedial investigations and remedial actions, environmental site assessments, pesticide studies and programming/instrumentation of automated remote systems control and data acquisition systems. Mr. Bowes earned a B.S. degree in geology, is a certified geologist and a licensed Professional Geologist in New Hampshire, and is currently The Johnson Company Quality Assurance/Quality Control Officer.
